In the spring of 2021, a then 13-year-old boy named Noah Ney vanished from Norman, Oklahoma. He was last seen on April 14, 2021, and was described as a male with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was approximately 4'9" tall and weighed around 90 pounds. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were that he had run away from a group home. His case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) in June 2021. The Norman Police Department was the investigating agency for his case. Following his disappearance, Noah Ney's life took a different direction. In April 2022, at the age of 14, he was involved in a drive-by shooting in Tulsa as part of a gang initiation for the 4-tre Hoover Crips. The shooting seriously injured a five-year-old girl. Subsequently, he faced a series of legal troubles, including charges for robbery, firearm possession, and assault. While in juvenile detention, he was noted to have a history of difficult behavior, including assaulting staff members. He also managed to escape from a juvenile detention center but was recaptured after a few days. In October 2023, at the age of 16, Noah Ney was tried as an adult and sentenced to 50 years in prison for the drive-by shooting. Prosecutors pointed to his extensive history of rejecting treatment and his continued criminal behavior as reasons why he was not suitable for juvenile rehabilitation. His sentence includes a possibility for judicial review after five years to consider a potential reduction if he demonstrates rehabilitation. The case of Noah Ney, which began as a missing person report from Norman, has since evolved into a complex legal matter involving serious criminal charges and a lengthy prison sentence. Although he is no longer considered a missing person as his whereabouts are known, his story is one that highlights a troubled path.
