On a January morning in 2021, 84-year-old Louis Edward Pauratore departed from his residence in Covington, Louisiana, with the intention of keeping a doctor's appointment. This routine outing, however, marked the beginning of a distressing journey into uncertainty for Mr. Pauratore and his family.
