In the winter of 2020, 17-year-old Vilma Susana Lux Lopez and her younger sister, 15-year-old Amelia Adelaida Lux Lopez, vanished from their foster home in Ravenna, Michigan. The sisters, of Guatemalan descent with limited English, were last seen on December 13, 2020. Their journey to the United States had been an arduous one. After entering the country without legal documentation, they were taken into custody by Border Patrol and held in a facility in Texas before being transported to Michigan ...
