In the spring of 2020, a 52-year-old woman named Jolene Wauahdooah vanished from Lawton, Oklahoma. An enrolled member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma, Jolene was last definitively seen on March 16, 2020, in the parking lot of the Fort Sill Apache Casino. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Native American female with brown, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She stood between 5 feet 10 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighed between 150 and 165 pounds. Jolene has distinctive tattoos: the name "Butch" on one forearm and an infinity sign on the other. The circumstances surrounding Jolene's disappearance remain unclear. There was a potential but unverified sighting of her a few hours after she was last seen at the casino. This possible sighting placed her at an EZ GO gas station at the intersection of Flowermound and Gore Boulevard. When she was last seen, it is believed she was wearing a maroon shirt, blue jeans, and a faux leather jacket. Her case was officially reported to the Lawton Police Department on April 2, 2020. Since she was last seen, there has been no contact with her, and her whereabouts are unknown. The investigation into Jolene's disappearance is being handled by the Lawton Police Department. Her family has been actively searching for her, and her sister has provided DNA to be entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) in the hope of finding a match. Jolene may also use the last names Beard or Dailey. The case of Jolene Wauahdooah is a somber reminder of the ongoing crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people, leaving a family without answers and a community with a void. Few details have been made public in her case, which remains unresolved as her loved ones continue to hope for her safe return.
