On July 27, 1990, 34-year-old Isaac Kayutak and his companion, Laura Kuckes, embarked on what was planned as a ten-day outing from Barrow, Alaska. The last known sighting of the pair was on August 4, 1990, when they were visited at their campsite by other Barrow residents who were seeking directions to a fishing camp on the Chipp River.
