On March 22, 1990, 19-year-old David Jason Jefferies was a passenger aboard the 162-foot fishing trawler, the Aleutian Enterprise, when it capsized and sank in the Bering Sea. The vessel went down approximately 60 miles south of St. Paul Island, taking the lives of nine of the 31 people on board. While 22 crew members were rescued by other fishing vessels in the area, David Jefferies was among those who were never found.
