On April 22, 1989, 27-year-old Elmer Russell White was reported missing from the fishing vessel Andronica. At the time of his disappearance, the vessel was located approximately 150 miles southwest of St. Matthew Island in the Bering Sea. It is believed that White may have fallen overboard. Extensive searches were conducted in the area following the report, but they yielded no trace of him.
