Kevin Lee Melnick, 27, has been missing since January 29, 1989, after the fishing vessel he was aboard, the 'Vestfjord', sank approximately 30 miles south of the Trinity Islands, to the west of Kodiak Island, Alaska. Melnick, a resident of Dillingham, Alaska, was one of six crew members on the 97-foot crab fishing vessel. The 'Vestfjord' was en route from Seattle, Washington, to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, when it encountered a severe storm.
