On June 16, 1987, Leonard Peter Gridley, a 38-year-old crew member, was reported missing from the fishing vessel, Miss Universe. The 86-foot vessel sank in the Semidi Islands while on a voyage from Chignik Bay to Alitak, Alaska. Gridley, a resident of Kodiak, Alaska, is presumed to be deceased following the incident.
