On September 2, 1985, 26-year-old Henry Beatus, Jr. of Galena, Alaska, was involved in a tragic boating accident on the Koyukuk River and has been missing since. The incident occurred when the 24-foot flat-bottomed riverboat he was in collided with a moose between the communities of Hughes and Allakaket. Beatus is presumed to have drowned in the accident. His case is being investigated by the Alaska State Troopers under case number 8560827.
