On September 28, 1984, 56-year-old John J. Shaffer vanished after taking off from the Penn Yan Airport in Yates County, New York. He was piloting a privately-owned, green and silver 1965 Cessna 150 single-propeller plane with the tail number N4245U. Neither Mr. Shaffer nor the aircraft has been seen since. The case is being handled by the Yates County Sheriff's Office.
