In the spring of 1982, a 34-year-old man named Lorenzo Smith Jr. vanished from Leesburg, Virginia. Smith was last seen on May 14th of that year. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a Black male, standing at 5'10" and weighing around 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. A noticeable scar was present under his left eye. Born in July 1947, Lorenzo was a United States Army veteran and was known for his exceptional skills as a horse rider and groom. His family resided in the vicinity of the Middleburg Training Track, where Lorenzo was employed. The circumstances surrounding Lorenzo Smith Jr.'s disappearance are unsettling and filled with unanswered questions. On June 20, 1982, he departed from the Middleburg Training Track with his new employer. Their destination was Saratoga Springs, New York, where they intended to sell horses at the renowned racetrack. According to the employer's account, Lorenzo experienced a medical emergency during the journey that necessitated a visit to a local hospital for treatment. The details of this medical event and the specific hospital where he was allegedly treated remain unclear. Following his supposed release from the hospital, the employer stated that he put Lorenzo on a bus bound for Washington, D.C. However, Lorenzo never reached his destination and has not been seen or heard from by his loved ones since. The lack of specific information regarding the hospital stay and the bus trip has made it incredibly difficult for investigators to trace his last known movements. The case is further complicated by the fact that few other details are available. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is the investigating agency for this decades-old missing person case. The disappearance of Lorenzo Smith Jr. remains an unsolved mystery, leaving his family without answers for over four decades.
