In August 2023, 59-year-old Richard Reyna was last seen by his family in San Antonio, Texas. His sister, Rosalinda Casillas, recalled their last interaction was an argument, after which he left. While she expressed regret over their final words, she did not believe he would intentionally cease all contact with his loved ones, including his other siblings and friends, with whom he regularly communicated. The family grew increasingly worried as months passed with no word from him. Compounding their concern was the fact that Richard, who had a history of mental health challenges and alcoholism, was reliant on disability checks which stopped arriving a couple of months after his disappearance. The family's anguish prompted them to take action. They filed a missing person's report with the San Antonio police in January and began a tireless search. Their efforts included checking local hospitals, mental health facilities, and even the morgue, but each avenue yielded no new information about Richard's whereabouts. As the search continued, his family made public pleas for any information that could lead to his return, expressing their love for him and their deep desire for closure. They held onto a promise made to their late parents to always look out for one another and longed for the peace of mind that knowing he was safe would bring. Tragically, the search for Richard Reyna concluded with heartbreaking news. On October 22, human remains were discovered by landowners who were cutting grass on their property in a rural area. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the remains as those of Richard Reyna, who was 60 years old. Authorities noted that the condition of the remains suggested they had been there for a significant amount of time, possibly over a year. The cause and manner of his death are still pending investigation. The discovery brought a devastating end to his family's search, closing the case of the missing San Antonio man.
