A mass shooting at a large gathering on South Franklin Street in Charleston, Missouri, on February 19, 2022, left 23-year-old Clintayzia DeJanae Nashay Clark dead. Known to family and friends as Dunna, Clintayzia lived in Cape Girardeau and had deep family ties in Charleston; she was fatally struck when shots were fired into a crowd of nearly 100 people. Nineteen-year-old Brianna Schumer was also killed and fourteen others were injured.
Local law enforcement identified and arrested two Charleston residents within days. Kevon Evans-McClinton, 21, and Zatyrus Moore, 19, were charged with multiple counts including two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and four counts of armed criminal action; both were held without bond at the Mississippi County Jail. Clintayzia was survived by her parents and numerous siblings and was buried after services at a local church.
