David Wesley Stotts, 45, was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds at a property on 3966 Kentucky Road in Seneca, Newton County, Missouri on December 23, 2021. The shooting arose from a dispute over a trailer; Susette Anderson, 62, said she had purchased the trailer and believed Stotts was trying to take it back. A witness reported loud noises from Anderson’s home that morning and the sound of several gunshots, and said a second shot was fired while Stotts was on the ground.
Anderson told investigators that Stotts had attacked her in a field next to a trailer and a Winnebago, and that she shot him in what she described as self-defense. Anderson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action and held without bond, with jury selection later set in McDonald County after a change of venue. The Newton County prosecuting attorney subsequently filed a motion to dismiss, stating the shooting appeared to be justifiable self-defense, and the murder charges were dropped.
Is anyone familiar with the property on Kentucky Road or the people involved who can add details about that morning?
