On November 16, 2021, deputies in Anderson, Missouri, were called to a camper on Pleasant Grove Road where they found 51-year-old Harold Lee Wynn dead from a gunshot to the back of the head. He was discovered lying in bed, largely covered by blankets, with a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol wedged between two pillows behind his head.
Harold’s wife, Dawn Renee Wynn, was the only other person present and initially said she’d been asleep and suggested the gun might have fallen from a shelf above the bed and discharged. Investigators found the shelf had a lip to prevent items sliding off, the gun’s safeties made an accidental discharge unlikely, and the medical examiner reported no stippling or contact burns, indicating the wound was not self-inflicted. Prosecutors later presented a possible financial motive: Dawn had been approved for a $100,000 life insurance policy on Harold one day before his death, the couple’s plumbing business was failing, and testimony indicated Harold had been planning to leave the marriage.
Dawn Wynn was charged in connection with Harold’s death. She left her mother’s Arkansas home in August 2022 and was located and arrested in October 2022. Trials and sentencing followed later, resulting in convictions and prison terms. Does anyone have information about Harold’s final days, the couple’s business, or contacts who might help clarify what happened?
