On May 25, 2021, 25-year-old Jonny Wayne Wren of Anderson, Missouri, was found with a fatal gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which had stopped in a field off Highway 59 just south of Anderson. Local authorities determined his death to be a homicide and the investigation crossed state lines.
Investigators say a physical altercation occurred earlier that evening between Wren and 24-year-old Levi H. Starrett at a residence in McDonald County. Witnesses reported Wren left in his vehicle and that Starrett, accompanied by another person, pursued him. The probable cause statement alleges Starrett fired multiple shots at Wren’s car, one of which struck and killed him.
Starrett was arrested in Miami, Oklahoma, and returned to Missouri to face charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action; he was held without bond. If anyone knew Jonny Wayne Wren, was in the area that night, or has information about the events leading up to the shooting, please come forward.
