On April 22, 2021, Jerrold David Brooks, a 63-year-old White man, was found dead on a rural property in the 10000 block of North Farm Road 193 south of Division Street in Fair Grove, Missouri. Greene County deputies located his body and an autopsy that day determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound. A firearm belonging to Brooks was recovered near his body, but investigators described the death as suspicious and said several questions at the scene remained unanswered.
Brooks had served 32 years as a Commercial Vehicle Officer with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and was working as a farmhand in retirement on State Senator Lincoln Hough’s farm operation; Hough called him a trusted part of the farm and a great friend. Law enforcement did not announce any arrests or identify a suspect in connection with the death.
Does anyone with knowledge of Brooks, his work on the farm, or the Fair Grove area have information that could help clarify what happened?
