A two-year-old child, Raelynn Elise Craig, was killed in a daylight drive-by shooting in Saint Joseph, Missouri on August 9, 2020. Raelynn was riding in the backseat of a silver Dodge Caliber near 20th and Messanie streets at about 3:30 p.m. when a black Hyundai Elantra pulled alongside and occupants of that vehicle opened fire, striking the Dodge with at least fourteen bullets. The shooting also injured two adults who survived; Raelynn was taken to a nearby hospital and died shortly after arrival.
Police identified suspects connected to the black Hyundai. Marcain R. Kimbrough-Ballard, a Saint Joseph resident and a passenger in the Hyundai, was arrested and later found to have fired shots at the Dodge. Caimon Ramone Stillman was also implicated. Reports during court proceedings noted the shooters may not have known a child was in the backseat, but both Kimbrough-Ballard and Stillman were convicted of second-degree murder and given lengthy prison terms. Te Avion Hawkins was also identified by law enforcement as involved and faced related legal proceedings.
Anyone who knew Raelynn or has information about the events that afternoon is asked to come forward.
