On July 28, 2019, 25-year-old Javon Drexel Jackson was fatally shot in Kennett, Missouri. Officers responded shortly after noon to reports of gunfire on Beaton Street and discovered Jackson at the scene; police opened a homicide investigation and worked to secure the area and identify those responsible for the daylight shooting.
Investigators named two men as persons of interest: 22-year-old Andrea Laray Davis, also known as Drako, and 22-year-old Quae’sion Hollywood, known as Que. Hollywood was located relatively soon after the shooting. Davis remained at large for more than a year before being arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Kansas City in September 2020; he surrendered at a residence on North McCoy and was charged by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s Office with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Jackson was remembered by family and community members as respectful, kind-hearted, and hard-working, a father who hustled every day.
