Chad McLanahan, 38, was shot and killed in front of a residence on the 1000 block of Pinkston Street in Grandview, Missouri, on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Police responded about 5:15 p.m. after a report of a man down; McLanahan was found with a gunshot wound, taken to a local hospital, and later died of his injuries. His mother was at the scene and stayed with him until emergency personnel took over.

Family described McLanahan as a talented artist who did drawing and tattoo work and as a devoted uncle who lived with and helped care for his mother while trying to turn his life around. According to his family, he had been outside with a friend when a vehicle approached, he walked toward the car, a window was rolled down, and he was shot; the vehicle then fled. The Grandview Police Department opened a homicide investigation and asked the public for information. No arrests or suspects have been publicly named and the motive remains unclear.

Did anyone in the area see that vehicle or have information about who might have been responsible?
