Robert Scott was 20 when he was killed by gunfire in Jefferson City, Missouri, on Saturday, April 13, 2019. The fatal shooting happened during a large party on Hickory Street; a second person was also wounded that night.

Investigators from the Jefferson City Police Department identified 22-year-old Marquis D. Avant as a person of interest after learning he had been at the location. Avant was located and arrested; during an interview he admitted to firing a weapon during the disturbance that resulted in Scott’s death.
