On the night of January 15, 2019, a domestic dispute at a Springfield, Missouri home at 911 West Locust Street ended with 20-year-old Cheyenne Dancause shot once and killed. Officers responding to a 911 call from a resident found Dancause’s body and two uninjured infants in the same room, one her daughter and the other a friend’s child.

Police focused on the caller, identified as her boyfriend, Chase E. Collins. Collins told dispatchers and officers the shooting was accidental and gave changing accounts to detectives, first saying the weapon discharged while both were flailing and later saying both had been holding the firearm when it went off. He was arrested at the scene and booked into the Greene County Jail.

Prosecutors charged Collins with second-degree murder; he later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and received a ten-year sentence. Did anyone who knew Cheyenne or who was near West Locust Street that night see or hear anything that could add detail to what happened?
