Sabrina Colleen Shelton, 26, was found fatally shot in her Warrensburg, Missouri, home on July 1, 2018. She was born August 23, 1991, attended Warrensburg High School and the University of Central Missouri, and was a mother who enjoyed arts and crafts with her young son, fishing and cooking.

The shooting occurred at a residence in the 200 block of S.W. Business 13 Highway near Warrensburg. Authorities arrested 39-year-old Russell S. Shuey in connection with Shelton’s death. Investigators say Shuey told them he and Shelton had been smoking marijuana and methamphetamine together and that during a sexual encounter his 9mm pistol fell from its holster and discharged, striking Shelton in the chest. Drug testing reportedly showed Shuey was impaired by marijuana and methamphetamine at the time.

Prosecutors charged Shuey with multiple felonies, including second-degree murder, first-degree involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of an illegal weapon; he was held in the county jail with bail set at $100,000. Does anyone have information about Sabrina’s life in Warrensburg or the events that night?
