On June 23, 2018, 24-year-old Cahoone N. Littlejohn was shot and killed in the parking lot of the FavTrip gas station at 10507 East 23rd Street in Independence, Missouri. The confrontation began about 2:00 p.m. after a near-collision: Littlejohn backed his vehicle and almost struck 19-year-old Marc A. Barron, who then slapped the rear of the car. Surveillance footage and witnesses describe the dispute escalating after a brief separation, with Littlejohn allegedly punching Barron inside the lot and knocking out a tooth.

Witnesses and video show Barron drawing a .40-caliber handgun after being struck; Littlejohn reportedly tried to retreat but was pursued and shot multiple times. Investigators recovered 13 shell casings and determined Littlejohn was hit at least three times. Barron returned to the store, placed the firearm on the counter and awaited police. The gun later checked as stolen from Kansas. The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office charged Marc A. Barron with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

If anyone witnessed the confrontation at the FavTrip that afternoon or has additional information about what led up to the shooting, please share what is known.
