On February 27, 2018, 53-year-old Angela Jean Cox was found dead in her home office in Springfield, Missouri. Her husband discovered her that evening and called police; investigators determined she had been fatally shot in the neck. Authorities identified Angela’s son, Connor J. Cox, then in his early twenties, as the primary suspect and arrested him shortly after the report.
Police said Connor’s father had previously tried to hide the family’s firearms from his son because of concerns about his behavior. After his arrest, Connor allegedly told investigators he believed his mother was always down and that he decided to end that, saying she did not see the attack coming as he entered her workspace. Connor was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, and in February 2020 was sentenced to life with parole eligibility after serving 25 and a half years.
If anyone knew Angela or has information about her life or the events that led to her death, please share what you know.
