On July 14, 2017, 19-year-old Akeem D. Nelson was found shot to death on a couch inside a residence in the 400 block of Shady Lane in Kennett, Missouri. Officers entered the home through an open front door and Dunklin County Coroner James Powell pronounced Nelson dead at the scene. An autopsy in Farmington confirmed the cause of death was a shooting.

A multi-agency investigation involved the Kennett Police Department, the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The inquiry identified 19-year-old Andre Lamont Oliver as a suspect; he was taken into custody. Prosecutors originally charged Oliver with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon. On October 30, 2017, the primary charge was amended to first-degree murder, a class A felony.

Does anyone have information about Nelson, the residence on Shady Lane, or the events of July 14, 2017 that could help clarify what happened?
