Bryan Scholz, 19, of House Springs, Missouri, was shot and killed outside his mobile home on Saturday, February 25, 2017. He was found with a gunshot wound and died at the scene. Family remembered him as a beloved son, brother, and grandson who enjoyed time with his girlfriend, playing sports and video games, and being with many friends; he was known by the nickname Big Body.

Investigators quickly identified a suspect. De-Von D. Johnson, then 20, was taken into custody in St. Louis County the day after the shooting after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received information linking him to Scholz’s death. Johnson admitted involvement and told investigators he had arranged to buy a small amount of marijuana from Scholz, traveled from St. Louis to Scholz’s home intending to rob him, and that an altercation ended when he produced a firearm and shot Scholz. He was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action with a no-bond warrant and later found guilty.

Did anyone in the House Springs area know Bryan or have information about the events leading up to the shooting?
