Christopher Shawn James, 54, was shot in the early morning hours of February 2, 2017, at the Sherwood Glen Apartment Complex in Moberly, Missouri. Responding officers found James with an apparent gunshot wound in the 1000 block of South Williams Street; he was taken to Moberly Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead. The Randolph County Coroner later ruled the death a homicide.
Investigators focused on John Fitzgerald Tucker, who lived in the same domestic circle as James. Both men were involved with the same woman who lived at the complex. Tucker was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and accused of firing a .22-caliber round that killed James.
In November 2023 a court suppressed key physical evidence relied on by prosecutors, and the Randolph County Prosecutor dismissed the charges. The prosecutor has said murder carries no statute of limitations, leaving the possibility of refiling if new evidence appears. Does anyone have information about Christopher James, the Sherwood Glen complex, or the night of February 2, 2017?
