On January 2, 2017, deputies in Lawrence County, Missouri, were called to a home near Aurora for a welfare check and found 82-year-old Nolan Karch dead on the floor. Investigators determined his death was a fatal shooting and reclassified the matter as a homicide.
Leads developed toward a local man, and a search of a camper owned by 44-year-old Shannon Hensley uncovered property taken from Karch’s home. Prosecutors charged Hensley with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and armed criminal action. Hensley was arrested and went to trial; he pleaded not guilty and at one point pointed to a co-defendant as responsible. He was ultimately convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
The victim’s son, Clay Karch, has said he believes Hensley is innocent and that the true perpetrator has not been identified. Does anyone have information about Nolan Karch, his routine, or movements around January 2, 2017?
