Robert Ashbaugh, described as 19 (some reports list him as 18), was shot in the chest at his Moniteau County home in Tipton, Missouri, on the evening of May 28, 2016. The shooting occurred during a night he spent with his roommate.

Investigators focused on the roommate, 22-year-old Travis Clark of California, Missouri. Witnesses at the scene reported Clark fired the rifle that killed Ashbaugh. Clark told law enforcement he had been trying to scare his roommate by pointing the weapon at him when it unexpectedly discharged. Clark was arrested and charged; the indictment included second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, with first-degree involuntary manslaughter listed as an alternative.

A Laclede County jury later convicted Clark of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action, and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Does anyone have additional information about Robert’s life or the evening of May 28, 2016 that could shed light on what happened?
