Larry McRoy, 62, and his wife were found dead near Sikeston, Missouri, in what investigators described as a violent incident. Their deaths prompted a criminal investigation that quickly focused on a family member.
The couple’s son, Thomas Wayne McRoy, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Legal proceedings began but did not move toward a conventional trial. In November of the year after the deaths, a judge ruled Thomas McRoy unfit to stand trial and ordered his commitment to a mental health facility, with a competency re-evaluation set for the following May. The case is on pause pending the results of treatment and the court-ordered reassessment.
Are there readers who knew the McRoy family or have information that could help clarify what happened?
