On the morning of Thursday, May 21, 2015, Sandra Kay Sutton, 46, and her 17-year-old son, Zachary Wade Sutton, were found dead at a relative’s home in Clinton, Missouri. Family members returning from work discovered the bodies; authorities determined both had died from gunshot wounds. Sandra and Zachary had been staying at that home after Sandra escaped captivity weeks earlier.

Sandra had been held against her will for about four months in Sedalia by 47-year-old James Barton Horn Jr., who kept her inside a wooden, insulated box roughly 100 inches long, 48 inches wide and 52 inches tall. Sandra escaped on April 30, 2015, and Horn was charged in the kidnapping and weapons case but fled. A massive manhunt followed the May 21 slayings.

Two days later, on May 23, 2015, officers located Horn hiding in a building in the J.N. Turkey Kearn Memorial Conservation Area in Pettis County. He was armed, refused to surrender, and was shot and killed by law enforcement at the scene.

Did anyone in the area know Sandra or Zachary, or have information about their time after her escape?
