In Lanagan, Missouri, five-year-old Isaac Corralejo was killed on April 19, 2012. The child was Hispanic and his death prompted a criminal investigation that focused on a man known to the family.

That man, Levi Sparling, was arrested in connection with Isaac’s death. Court proceedings later established Sparling’s role in the child’s death and resulted in a conviction. The community mourned a young life ended under distressing and preventable conditions.
