Imani Yasmine Sade Clemons was an 18-year-old Black woman from Anderson, South Carolina, shot dead inside an apartment at Fairview Gardens on the evening of December 29, 2022. Anderson police say they responded about 9:30 p.m. to what was reported as a dispute between several people and found Imani with a fatal gunshot wound to the head; she was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people, a man and a woman, were also shot and taken to a local hospital.

Investigators arrested two men in connection with the attack. Mikial Hykeem Ferguson was charged with murder and other violent offenses and was denied bond. In June 2023 authorities arrested Nigel Barner, who faced charges that included murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and burglary; he was also held without bond. Prosecutors say evidence showed the violence was planned and that an AR-style rifle stolen earlier that day was used to fire more than 20 rounds into the apartment. Witnesses described seeing the men with the rifle and driving them to the scene; one witness said she later drove Ferguson to a bridge where she believed he discarded the weapon.
