On the evening of November 3, 2022, 32-year-old Martiz Shermaine Williams was shot and killed during a domestic dispute in Anderson, South Carolina. Williams, an African American male, was found in the front yard of a home on Plantation Road with a gunshot wound to the chest. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.

Authorities were called about 7:30 p.m. Another person was wounded in the incident, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg and taken to hospital. Investigators from the Anderson Police Department and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office described the shooting as arising from a domestic altercation and said there was no believed ongoing threat to the public. No arrests had been announced and the investigation was ongoing.
