Earnest Rivers III was 23 when he and 22-year-old Carolyn Rivers were found shot to death in their Wichita, Kansas home on North Minneapolis Street. The bodies were discovered on June 8, 1981; both had been killed by gunshots and were found together in their bed.

Investigators were unable to develop leads that solved the case, and the murders later went cold. No arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced, and the killings remain an open case in the Wichita Police Department’s cold case files.

Anyone who knew Earnest or Carolyn, lived near North Minneapolis Street in 1981, or has information about the night of June 8 is asked to come forward.
