John Ashley Altman, 44, was shot and killed at his Georgetown County home in the Ringel Heights area on July 21, 2022. Altman, born August 3, 1977, ran Altman Construction and was described as someone who enjoyed adventurous pursuits such as racing boats and ATVs. A second victim at the scene, 30-year-old Emily Richitelli, also died of a gunshot wound.

Witnesses at the scene identified Ronnie Legrand Todd Jr. as the shooter. Investigators say jealousy was the suspected motive because Todd had been romantically involved with Richitelli previously. Security footage from Todd’s own cameras reportedly showed him loading firearms into his truck less than an hour before the 911 call, which was placed by Altman’s nine-year-old son who named a close family friend known as Uncle Ron as the shooter. Todd was arrested after a brief standoff and charged in the killings.
