On May 2, 1979, 22-year-old Jerry Hunter, a forklift operator, was found dead in a ditch in Sedgwick County, Kansas. His pickup truck had been located earlier in the parking lot of a convenience store at 85th North and Meridian in Valley Center, while his body was discovered about a mile away at 85th North and Seneca.
An investigation determined Hunter died from a single gunshot wound to the back of his head. The wound was described as execution style. Money and personal identification were found with his body, suggesting robbery was not the motive and prompting investigators to consider other reasons for the killing.
The case grew cold; no suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. Does anyone have information about Hunter, his movements that week, or the area around 85th North and Meridian in 1979?
