Quentin Eugene McDowell, a 34-year-old Black man from Gaffney, South Carolina, was shot dead inside an apartment at Limestone Court Apartments on North Limestone Street on the afternoon of June 14, 2022. Officers responding to a report of an individual not breathing found McDowell on the living room floor with a fatal gunshot wound; the Cherokee County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Gaffney Police Department opened a homicide investigation and identified 21-year-old Rayjohn Zeleon Watts as a primary suspect. Warrants were issued charging Watts with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. A second person, 20-year-old Deona Kyla Nazshelik Davis, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Watts voluntarily surrendered to authorities in July 2022.

The motive and the sequence of events inside the apartment before the fatal shot have not been publicly disclosed. Does anyone have information about Quentin, the apartment complex, or what happened that afternoon?
