Jeremiah Zachariah Dicker was 20 when he was killed by gunfire on May 31, 2022, on a rural stretch of Highway 554 near Red Bluff Crossroads in the Loris area of Horry County. Known to family and friends as Double 00, Jeremiah was pronounced dead at the scene along with 19-year-old Kalik Conn; a third person was also injured. Officers responded to reports of gunfire just after 2 p.m., nearby roads were blocked, and an autopsy was ordered at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The incident was investigated as a double homicide. Prosecutors later charged three local men in connection with the case. One, Todd Allen Fry, pleaded guilty to accessory before the fact of armed robbery and received a 10-year sentence on August 12, 2024. Two others, brothers Nasirea Brewnoplis Grate, 22, and Dajon Malik Grate, 20, were tried and convicted of voluntary manslaughter by a jury in August 2024 and were each sentenced to 30 years, with at least 85 percent to be served before eligibility for supervised release.

Jeremiah’s funeral services were held at McNeil Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and his name appears on local gun-violence memorial pages. Did anyone in the community know Jeremiah, his movements that day, or have information about the events on Highway 554?
