On the evening of February 24, 2022, 29-year-old Christian Manuel Hernandez Hernandez was shot and killed inside his mobile home at the Godwin Mobile Home Park on Joe Frazier Road in Burton, South Carolina. He was eating dinner with his wife when his 22-year-old stepson, Daniel Adame-Guatemala, reportedly emerged from a bathroom and opened fire with a 9mm handgun. Hernandez’s wife tried to intervene but was shot around as Adame-Guatemala continued firing; first responders arrived shortly before 8 p.m. and found Hernandez with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Adame-Guatemala fled the residence in a family pickup truck before officers arrived. Warrants were issued charging him with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He left the country and was located in Mexico, later moving to South America while evading law enforcement, which prompted a multiagency search. If anyone has information about Christian, the night of February 24, 2022, or movements of the vehicle after the shooting, please come forward.
