A deadly workplace dispute at the Bojangles on Columbia Avenue in Chapin ended with one coworker’s death. William McArthur Hicks Jr., 21, of Neeses, South Carolina, was shot multiple times after an argument with a fellow employee on a Wednesday afternoon. He was rushed to a local hospital but died of his injuries.
Police identified coworker Warren Bruce Rumph Jr. as the person who allegedly shot Hicks. Rumph was taken into custody and the charges were upgraded to murder after Hicks’s death; an additional charge alleges possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Rumph was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
Anyone who witnessed the argument at the restaurant that afternoon or who has information about the shooting is asked to come forward.
