Bilal Shaheed Harris, a 32-year-old Black man born November 1, 1989, was shot multiple times near Grey Street and Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach on January 5, 2022. He was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and died of his wounds on January 8, 2022. Harris was described as someone who enjoyed rapping, drawing, and spending time with his children.
Police say the shooting followed an incident in which 28-year-old Patrick Anthony Brave allegedly entered Harris’s home without permission to steal a firearm. A physical altercation allegedly continued outside, where Brave allegedly shot Harris multiple times. Brave was arrested and charged with murder and first-degree burglary. Investigators later arrested 23-year-old Jacory Rashawn Hytower in Bibb County, Georgia; he was extradited to face charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. A third person, Ryan Jobe Harrell, was also implicated and reportedly struck a police SUV and another vehicle while attempting to flee before running on foot.
The community continues to mourn Harris as the legal process moves forward. If anyone knew Bilal, his routines, or has information about the shooting, please come forward.
