In the early morning hours of October 26, 2021, a family dispute in Seneca, South Carolina, ended when 48-year-old Aaron Parrish Putnam was found fatally shot in the yard of a residence on Singing Pines Road. Deputies from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrived after a 911 call shortly after 1 a.m.; the coroner pronounced Putnam dead at the scene and ruled the death a homicide.
Investigators say the shooting began with a domestic altercation. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Wayne Austin Raffaldt drove to the home with another family member to confront Putnam and allegedly shot him. Raffaldt was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime; he was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center as the case proceeded.
