On the morning of July 23, 2021, 29-year-old Deonne McLendon of Burton, South Carolina, was shot during an outing with his cousin Delmar Sanders and a woman named Rhonda Randall. The three reportedly had been using cocaine and drove to an ATM for more money. While Sanders was driving a red Dodge Durango, McLendon and Randall expressed concern about his erratic driving. Sanders pulled over near the intersection of Stanley Farm Road and Laurel Bay Road, and as McLendon walked around the vehicle Sanders shot him twice in the abdomen and shot Randall in the arm.
McLendon ran about 100 yards before collapsing and died en route to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He identified Sanders as his shooter to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s deputy. Randall survived and was treated for her injuries. Sanders later gave multiple, contradictory accounts of the night and turned himself in to authorities in Camden County, Georgia; he was charged with murder, attempted murder, and a weapons offense. Does anyone have information about McLendon, the location, or the events that night?
