A late-night shooting in Graniteville, South Carolina, left 26-year-old Joccoui Jackson dead on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Deputies from the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office were called when a person arrived at Aiken Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound at about 11:30 p.m. That wounded person was treated and released after injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Investigators traced the incident to a residence at 340 Aiken Road. Jackson’s body was found inside the doorway; he had been shot at least once and was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the precise cause of death. Law enforcement confirmed a connection between the hospitalized shooting victim and Jackson’s death but did not release information about motive or suspects, and no arrests have been announced.
