Michael Dominick McAllister Jr., 30, was shot while seated in the front passenger seat of a 2009 Dodge Challenger in Gaffney, South Carolina, in the early evening of June 7, 2021. The vehicle was near Greenway Drive and Woodlawn Drive when a single gunshot struck McAllister in the head. He was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center but died from the injury in the early hours of June 8, 2021.

Investigators focused on 28-year-old Zevonta Queon Shands after the shooting. The Challenger belonged to Shands, who lived in the neighborhood where the shooting happened; he reportedly ran to his nearby home while armed and later surrendered to police. A search warrant at Shands’ residence recovered a plastic bag with a green leafy substance, a bag with a white powdery substance, a spent .45 caliber shell casing, and a box of .45 caliber ammunition. Shands was arrested on charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and held at the Cherokee County Detention Center without bond. A motive has not been made public.

Did anyone in the Greenway Drive or Woodlawn Drive area see the Challenger or the events that evening?
