William Terrence Tyrill Wallace was 25 when he was found unconscious on the steps of an apartment on Cedar Street in Myrtle Beach on April 26, 2021. A woman who lived at the residence called 911 after leaving for a store and returning about an hour later to find him unresponsive. Officers initially responded to a reported overdose but discovered Wallace had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was transported to a local hospital and died about an hour later. The investigation was treated as a homicide, and detectives say surveillance footage, witness statements and physical evidence were used to identify a suspect. Two days later, on April 28, 2021, police arrested 26-year-old Ernest Elijah Lesesne and charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime; no bond was set at his initial magistrate appearance.
If anyone saw activity at the Cedar Street apartment around 11 a.m. on April 26, 2021, or has information about Wallace that could help the investigation, please come forward.
