Monty S. McCray, 24, was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting at an apartment complex in Summerville, South Carolina, on the evening of March 30, 2021. Law enforcement arrived to find three people with gunshot wounds; McCray later died of his injuries and the other two victims were taken to a local hospital.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office released McCray’s name in the days after the shooting. Authorities opened an investigation but did not immediately release a motive or identify persons of interest.
